New SUP School on the Tweed Coast

There is a new Stand Up Paddle (SUP) school on the Tweed Coast which offers people the chance to experience the thrills and excitement associated with the sport. This allows the locals and tourists of the Tweed the opportunity to get involved in the ever increasing popular sport without needing to travel all the way to the Gold Coast to have a go.
Adapt Outdoors offers a well structured 90min lesson which teachers participants SUP etiquette for all environments, safety (which includes falling off techniques, the effects of wind and currents), paddling techniques, turning techniques and best positioning on the board for different conditions. With all this information passed on to the participant, they should walk away being able to practise paddle in a flat water environment and maybe one day progressing into stand up paddle surfing.

The founder of Adapt Outdoors is a local raised surfer of the Tweed Coast who has now swapped his short board and mals for his new love of SUP. When asked why he started the SUP school the answer is clear "I wanted to give something back to a community that has offered me so much by teaching people to enjoy the local creeks and beaches through stand up paddling". As a young boy he would spend his time travelling the tweed coast from Pottsville to Coolangatta, searching for waves and when the swell was small paddling kayaks in the local creeks or swimming like all local beach kids do. This allows Adapt Outdoors to offer all participants a great experience from a wealth of knowledge and local experience.

Lessons run consistently on Saturdays or Sundays but bookings can be taken for mid week classes as well. For more information on what they offer visit www.adaptoutdoors.com.au

If you're looking for a truly relaxing and fun way to spend your weekend in all types of conditions give stand up paddling a go, who knows you may become another addict of this great sport!
