New Fanatic Race board - Falcon Race
You don't get race conditions like these...
Meet the Fanatic Falcon Race. And even if you shudder at the thought of getting on a long and narrow race board and paddling for a few kilometres, any paddler will appreciate the super slowmo footage of this board in action.
Aussie paddler Adam Quinn helped design these boards in conjunction with Sebastian Wenzel, and one of the key points the guys bring up is that a board needs to be designed for the less than optimal conditions. As they say, during a race the boards have to cut through wind chop, competitors chop and all kinds of imperfections in the water surface. To make a board go fast in these conditions, it requires a different design that sits above the chop and doesn't get bogged down.
Why does this matter to you? Well there's just something incredibly cool about watching a stand up paddle board nose cut through the water in slow motion. Especially one that seems to work as well as the Fanatic Falcon.
