Neil Pryde is getting into the Stand Up Paddling Game

No, not the company (even though they are involved through their sister companies), but Neil Pryde himself has given the new 'biggest watersport in the world' at Islamorada, Florida.

Mr Pryde is probably one of the most important people in the sports of windsurfing and kitesurfing, his company Neil Pryde Ltd owning the rights to Cabrinha kitesurfing and of course Neil Pryde windsurfing. They purchased US based company Imagine Surf several months ago, and already their windsurf board company JP made it's own line of stand up paddle board. Now, they manage the new brand NP which has a whole line of SUP accessories and some fantastic paddles which are built in their own factory in Hong Kong. This super power of watersports is all headed by one guy - Neil Pryde.

That's not the interesting bit though. Neil Pryde, although owning the biggest watersports company portfolio in the world, has never actually windsurfed, kiteboarded or stand up paddled!!
It's not that he doesn't like the sports, he's just heavily involved in competitive sailing (on his multi million dollar yachts) and doesn't really have any interest in learning something else. Somebody however, deserves a medal because they managed to get the old man onto a stand up paddle board, tell him which way the blade goes and pushed him out into the weedy waters around Islamorada, Florida. We'll blame Damien LeRoy, he can be responsible if Neil starts entering the masters divisions of the SUP world tour.

Check out out, don't be too hard on his paddling technique, the man is 73 after all!
