My Stand Up Paddle board has a twin!
Are you tired of rocking up to the beach, and finding three other guys out there paddling the exact same yellow and white board? Ever been paddling and noticed your board feels a little weird, then realised you picked up someone else's by mistake? It happens, but we have an awesome solution for you.
Personalise your board - make it truly unique and easily identifiable. Or just make it hard for a thief to sell if they steal it. Here's some great looking ways to make that boring stock standard SUP look like a custom.
Custom deck grips - these are a great and practical way to make a statement on your board. Although many boards have pre-installed deck grips from the factory, many don't - so if you have one of these, buy an aftermarket deck grip. Simply use a pair of sharp scissors to cut it into the shapes you're after, then clean up your board, peel the backing off and stick her down! Check these out for some examples.

Add lots of stickers - The classic way to make a board your own, plaster it with a ton of stickers. Ask any SUP shop and they'll hand you a stack of stickers - got a Naish board?
No worries, slap a Coreban sticker on there for good measure. If you find your awesome decal job keeps peeling off - you can use a spray on deck grip over the top to seal them onto your board. Before you do this it's a great idea to write your name and phone number on one of the stickers so that if you lose your board - whoever finds it can contact you. Check it out - even Chuck Patterson does it this way.

Remember, whatever you do to your board might affect its resale value - so make it look good! It might not be a great idea to engrave your name and details right on the nose of the board - then write over it in permanent marker.
Whatever you decide to do - make it fun! Enjoy decorating your pride and joy, so next time you paddle out there - smile and laugh at the clones in the lineup. For more ideas and how-to's - Check out this forum thread on Seabreeze.
