Lord of the stand up paddLING's - Whitewater SUP in NZ
Not just beautiful, also heaps of fun...
White water stand up paddling hasn't really broken into the mainstream yet, at least not in Australia because of the lack of good locations. But these guys make it look easy, and fun, and incredibly beautiful. The location they're in also helps, as does their extensive white water experience. But that doesn't mean you can't picture yourself doing it!
Using inflatable SUP boards, these guys are hurtling down rapids, over waterfalls and in between little crevices all over the place. They've still got time for some fun though, jumping from board to board and surfing little standing waves whenever they can.
It's not without risks though, here's what the guys had to say about the video:
"Bernd Sommer, Denise Martin and Jamie Sutton are all very experienced paddlers who run Rotorua Paddle Tours. They have a huge amount of experience paddling on white water and always wear the right equipment to reduce the likelihood of injury, if you do want to try paddling on white water ensure you start off gently and always wear adequate safety equipment."
It's a great example of how versatile the sport of SUP has become in recent years, check it out..
