Kai Lenny Claims the Stand Up Paddling World Title
Kai Lenny at home in Paia, Maui.
Kai's been on fire all year, placing well in both surf and racing events, even giving the seemingly unbeatable Connor Baxter a run for his money at the recent Turtle bay resort event on Oahu. Riding for Naish since the beginning, (when he was windsurfing) his major sponsor is extremely proud of his accomplishments. He's even helped design the enormously popular Hokua series of short stand up paddle boards. Here's what Naish had to say about their superstar.
"Naish is so thrilled for Kai, who we have supported throughout his career, and we are stoked to see all his hard work and dedication pay off. Kai has been an integral part of the development of the Naish Hokua series of shortboard-style wave boards. Along with Master Shaper Harold Iggy, Robby Naish and Michi Schweiger, Kai's input and progressive surf style has helped shape his championship-winning boards: the Hokua 8'0" and the Hokua 9'8" Gun."
Of course, Kai himself is pretty stoked and isn't afraid to shout about his win; check out his Facebook for an insight into the life of Lenny, he's really vocal and is always friendly with his fans which is a welcome change for a Stand up paddle surfer. Kai said earlier today:
"So stoked on getting this title. I really wanted to thank my family for the continued support since day 1. I would also like to thank Yuri Soledade for coming to Brazil with me! He is the best!"
