Every stand up paddler knows that real paddles have a handle, and a blade. With one of those, you can surf waves like they were meant to be surfed, and still paddle your way out the back after each one. But surfers still give SUP surfers strange looks. Can you imagine what they'd think if they saw you paddling on, on a kayak?

But Jamie Obrien doesn't like surfing things that are easy, instead he chooses weird stuff. Like a Kayak. And he's not surfing one in little swell either, they're taking them out on the North Shore of Oahu.

It's 8ft, it's bumpy, and its crowded, but these guys are paddling in with tandem kayaks! Sure, they're not hucking cutbacks or dishpan turns, but would you be game to drop in with 50kg worth of plastic underneath you, and a mate sitting right behind?
