How good is your balance? A Stand Up Paddling party trick

Fake? Or just incredible?
Every man (well, some men, mostly women) and their dogs are doing SUP Yoga at the moment. And yes, balancing on your head and hands while floating along is the ultimate in balance and core strength training. But what happens when you cross a stand up paddle board and an Indo board? Check it out...

For those of you who aren't in the know, an Indo board is basically a plank of wood that sits on an oversize Pringles tin. The idea is that you stand with one leg either side of the cylinder and balance yourself for as long as you can. Not only is it supposed to improve your balance, core strength and fitness. It's also hard! All over the internet there's pictures and video of sporting celebrities drinking coffee, texting and eating their breakfast while standing on one of these things, but as far as we've seen. It's never been done while on a stand up paddle board.

Why so hard though? If you've ever tried standing on an Indo board (or one of the millions of imitations out there) it's hard enough trying to keep your weight over the balance point of the board, and your feet level. Putting the thing on a SUP means you have to distribute your weight left and right, forward and backwards, as well as manage the yaw of the board turning, and any unwanted disturbances from the chop!

What's also interesting, is that after 190 shares on Facebook, and almost 500 likes, nobody has claimed it as being staged or fake! In the age of photoshop, almost anything can be portrayed and there's always a doubter in the crowd. Maybe this is just believable enough to be true? Although you won't see us trying it anytime soon, we reckon it's true.

Hat's off to Lauren Peterson from Wind Kayak Sup Lago Garupa for showing us all what's possible when you've got some water, a SUP, an Indo board and a whole lot of spare time on your hands.
