Cyclone Marcia claims a stand up paddle board

Cyclone Marcia pushed the best swell of the year in to the QLD coast.

The footage just keeps rolling in from Cyclone Marcia’s epic swell on the QLD coast in February, which not only provided the best SUP surfing conditions of the summer, but claimed it’s fair share of boards too.

Take Jon Locke’s 12’6 BOP paddle board for instance, which saw him through some great little waves while he stayed out on the shoulder. Alas these things aren’t designed for getting barreled, but when a lip throws and you’re in position, who wouldn’t go for it?

Jon didn’t miss the opportunity, but he paid for it with a swift board length reduction. Imagine his surprise when he pulled the leash in to find only half his paddle board, and to make things worse, his GoPro was on the missing end!!!

Luckily he paddled in and found it on the inside, so all was not lost, and we get to watch it all unfold.
