Creek to Creek SUP Race returns to the GC - Race 4 Research!
The Race for Research - the Creek to Creek!
From the iconic river mouth of Currumbin creek, where the Roar guys have turned every man, woman and child into a SUPer... To the other epic river mouth down south, called Tallebudgera Creek. The Creek to Creek Sup Race was one of Australia's most epic races last year due to it's unique format and good vibes from the competitors...
Here's how it works. You start out the front of Roar in Currumbin Creek, and then everyone battles out through the shore break to get to the open water out the back. They then turn south and everyone follows Paul Jackson and Travis Grant to the finish line where there's food and beers and good times for all.
That my friends is the recipe for a great day on the water, and you don't even have to be a member of a local club to enter! Although you should support your local club, the SUPSA guys have generously opened this event up to everyone, no matter their skill level or experience! So there's no excuses, get your calendar out, mark off the 29th of June and be there early to get a carpark.
But wait! There's more!
Thanks to the guys from Auswind over in WA, there's a 14ft Star-board All Star Carbon race board on offer! You'll need to buy raffle tickets to win it, but of course it's for a good cause. All proceeds go to MS Queensland to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Tickets prices are $10 each, $20 for 3 and $50 for 10. Tickets available via www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?ID=9349
All money raised through this public draw will be 100% given to MS Queensland which will be used in their research into a mysterious disease.
Some facts about MS.
*MS is a disease of the Brain and Spinal Cord (central nervous system)
*MS is called multiple because more than one part of the Brain or Spinal Cord may be affected.
*It’s called sclerosis (meaning hardening or scarring) as an attack can leave scar tissue which disrupts the speed of the message along the nerve fibres.
*MS interferes with the brain’s ability to control such functions as vision, walking, speech etc. *3:1 ratio of women to men can develop MS.
*Approximately one in one thousand people have the disease at any given time in Australia.
More importantly MS IS NOT PREVENTABLE OR CURABLE – Yet……..and this is where we can help!
Please help us support this cause and give back a little bit of our good fortunes to those who need it. 2013 Creek to Creek SUP Race. RACE FOR RESEARCH
