Back to back Gold for the Australian Stand Up Paddling Team

Aussies take the win for two years running.
It's a big deal when Australia has the best SUP team for two years straight, but if you had a chat to the guys, you'd think it was any other day...

Despite missing out on any places in the SUP Surfing competitions, Angie Jackson helped the team along by winning the Women's technical race (like Battle of the paddle style) late in the competition. Also backed up by the entire team winning the relay race, who could argue that Aussie paddlers are the best in the world?

It's a shame Sean Poynter (from the US) and Nicole Pacelli (from Brazil) won the surfing competitions, we had some amazing talent from Australia! But those two events were the only two missing from the 9 events in total, imagine taking a clean sweep!

In true Olympic style, the ISA's President Fernando Aguerre says it was the "Best world cup ever" (which you would...) Saying after the event:

“Thank you all for making the 2013 ISA SUP and Paddleboard World Championship the best SUP and Paddleboard event in history. With a record amount of athletes from a record 23 countries, this event is certainly the most diverse SUP and Paddleboard event in history."
Aguerre continued, “We had teams from all continents in the world, with all their diversity. They proved to the world that SUP and Paddleboard are universal sports that appeal to both genders, to all ages, and to people of diverse ethnic, religious, national and socio-economical groups."

So what's the plan for next year? Will the Aussie dream team be back for round three? Stay tuned to see who's been selected after the state and national competitions over the year...
