Aussies smash it at the ISA World Stand Up Paddle Champs.

Doing us proud - the Aussie SUP team
We knew it was going to happen, and we're not going to let the rest of the stand up paddling world forget it too!

The dream team of stand up paddle, better known as TravelSIM Team Australia, lead by Jamie Mitchell has conquered all in Miraflores, Peru. The power packed team including Jackson Close, Justin Holland and girls Shakira Westdorp and Angie Jackson, plus a heap of other talented Aussies who did Australia proud winning four gold medals, including the teams' title, and five silver medals when the competition closed after five days.

In what was called a 'silly mistake' by Jamie Mitchell himself - he did himself out of the gold medal in the SUP technical race by failing to complete the course properly. He could have had the win, but was instead disqualified - a devastating outcome had he not been able to redeem some of his stature by cleaning up in the 18km SUP marathon event held the next day.

Unfortunately a french guy Antoine Delpero, just pipped Aussie Jackson Close in the final of the SUP surfing competition. Well, to give credit where credit's due - Antoine won by quite a margin in the final with a score of 17.56. Compared to Jackson's score of 12.50 and third place winner Sean Poynter's 12.20 - it's quite a win. Conditions were great for Stand up paddle surfing with 2-4 foot swell and nice open faces, giving the surfers plenty of canvas to work with, although a little less power than some would have liked.

Not to forget our (not standup) paddle boarding brothers and sisters in the paddle boarding class they too also put on a stellar effort with gold medals in every paddle boarding division, both mens and womens. Check out the interview with Jordan Mercer mid-way through the video below, she's just finished the marathon paddle and is barely puffed!

What an amazing effort from Aussie paddlers - an absolute whitewash of the world championships is more than anybody expected and these fine young Aussies aught to be congratulated. Check out the video below to hear what the paddlers themselves had to say about the competition.
