Are these guys crazy? Chasing Sharks by Stand Up Paddleboard
This week there’s been two videos emerge of stand up paddlers off the beach in California, literally chasing baby great white sharks around with stand up paddle boards. Crazy? Or just curious and brave?
Well, nobody got eaten, so it either wasn’t that dangerous, or they were simply lucky. The videos were taken from El Segundo and Manhattan Beach, California, which is pretty famous for shark sightings.
Something’s obviously going on there for the paddlers to know about the sharks, and for there to be half a dozen ranging from 5 to 9 foot long (according to the paddlers). YouTube is full of videos of fisherman pulling in little great whites, surfers seeing them in the lineup and dead ones on the beach, but this is the first time we’ve seen guys actually chasing them around.
In the video below, one guy even jumps off (or fell off) his board to get a closer look at the sharks. He calmly films for a bit, then gets back on his board and continues the chase.
Don’t believe us? Check out the video below, there’s two videos out there but the other one has a little too much swearing for our liking, this one below is the better anyway! Would you get out there and chase sharks like this?
