l'Hydropt?re. Alain Th?bault and his eight crew members started their first day of training this morning in the Hy?res harbour. The good wind conditions, i.e. 20 knots of West wind were there!

During the fourth run, l'Hydropt?re team significantly improved the record over one nautical mile at 44.9 knots*. This record in all categories was already held by l'Hydropt?re, which established it at 43.09 knots in November 2008.

The coming runs are promising as the wind has increased since the beginning of the afternoon.

The stopwatch has recorded yet another top speed. 48.7* is the new average speed over one nautical mile. i.e. 5 knots over the speed established in November 2008.

About Hydropt?re

From the Greek hydros (water) and pt?re (wing), l'Hydropt?re is a trimaran with foils. These underwater wings extract the boat's hulls from the water when a certain speed is reached, which considerably reduces the ship's hydrodynamic drag.

Thus, l'Hydropt?re can attain high speeds.
