Yanmar Racing lose a close game - Danish Open report

Report from Yanmar Racing at the conclusion of the Danish Open.

YANMAR Racing finished in third place at the Danish Open 2009.

On Day 2 and 3, Yanmar Racing had eight races and finished in first place at the conclusion of the Round Robin, with an 8-3 scoreline.

However, the beginning of Semi-final round did not start well for the Yanmar Racing. Yanmar Racing had a battle royal with local sailor Gram-Hansen (DEN) in the Semi-final round but lost 1-3, due to slight mistakes.

As a result, Yanmar Racing sailed against Mattias Rahm (SWE) in the Petit-final, claiming victory and third place in the event.

Gilmour, the round robin winner, admitted his decision to pick Gram-Hansen as his semi-final opponent may possibly having been a rash one.

However Gilmour, a gentleman ashore, but aggressive in the extreme on the water, said that receiving five penalties in his four semi-final races had not helped. 'It seemed everything he did was green flagged and everything we did was penalized. They were not bad infringements, they were tacks to leewards and things such as that. But c' est la vie.'

The next stage of the World Match Tour, the Argo Group Gold Cup, will run from October 5-11 in Hamilton, Bermuda.
