Wot Chicks aim for No.1 in Women's Match Racing

In the latest ISAF released World Rankings for Women's Match Racing and the Wot Chicks have now held on to World Number 3 for the past eight consecutive ranking releases (ten months, since Wed 22nd Aug 07).

This release included the teams result from the Women's International Match Racing Criterium that was held in Calpe, Spain in late April.
The Wot Chicks have a few more weeks training, racing and development in Australia, before they head back to Europe. This will include the QLD Match Racing States and the Australian mid-winter titles in Mooloolaba. As reported on Sail-World, the crew for this event will be Katie Spithill, Nina Curtis, Jessica Eastwell, and Nicole Douglass.
Next up is Match Cup Sweden, sailed in Marstrand, on DS37's from June 29th - July 6th. This will be the team's first 'big boat' regatta for 2008.
The Wot Chicks return home for a few weeks in July, before heading back to Europe for the Portugal Women's Cup and Lysekil Women's Match Racing Championships.
The Wot Chicks team for these upcoming overseas regattas, all with six Crew, will be: Katie Spithill, Heidi Gordon, Nina Curtis, Jessica Eastwell, Nicole Douglass and Kristen Short.
The Wot Chicks have also been seen out and about on Sydney Harbour training with Guy Stening on his M30 - Optimum. Guy is the current National Champ on the M30's. He has an intense international program of his own leading up to his Worlds which will be held in Newport, USA from the 1st to 4th October where he hopes to better last year's effort of fourth.
On Sunday 25th May, the Wot Chicks raced with Guy and two of his regular crew members (Steve Quiggly & Steve - Macca - McConaghy) in the Audi Winter Series - 'Super 30'/E Division, coming in second on the day after starting off at 25 minutes.
