'...but you have to be crewing SOME of the time' .
There's no better way to improve your sailing skills than spend a season in the Whitsundays, sailing whenever you can. What a dream! Take a few lessons, take some more, but THEN you need miles and miles of sailing, and that's where a Sunsail Rally comes in - AND/OR they're great for getting experience before you charter a yacht for a holiday.

Following the exceptional success of the inaugural Sailing School Rally last December, Sunsail Sailing School has realised that this was just what their sailors wanted. They have decided to repeat the winning format with two recently announced dates and a new route.

Crew are under the expert supervision of Sunsail's experienced instructors at all times although the emphasis is definitely on sociable sailing with group barbecues, a night moored at an island resort and a fun race and prize-giving ceremony.

For those who have already explored the immediate vicinity close to the Sunsail base on Hamilton Island, a second route has been added going south. "In order to fully explore all of the region's highlights and because some guests might have already visited the key 'hot spots' in the immediate vicinity of Hamilton Island, we've introduced a second route to complement the existing and extremely popular 'Northern Loop'," said Sunsail Sailing School Principal Michael Silcock. "This new route heads south to explore the Sir James Smith Group in an area that might not be as well known on the traditional 'tourist trail'."

Sunsail Sailing School Rallies are designed for anyone interested in gaining more sailing experience before embarking on further qualifications and also people who want to gain sailing experience before chartering a yacht themselves.

Route One, from June 28 to July 3, 2009, takes in Hook Island, Border Island, Lindeman Island, Seaforth Island and Whitsunday Island, including an evening barbecue on world-famous Whitehaven Beach.

Route Two, from November 29 to December 4, 2009, takes in Thomas Island, Brampton Island, Newry Island, Lindeman Island and Seaforth Island.

The five-day, six-night rally costs $1,595 per person and includes accommodation and meals as well as skipper/instructor. Phone 1800 803 988 or visit: www.sunsail.com.au
