'Ripping it up with the surf Aquatic Sports Development Program' . ?
Surf? Study? Sail? Study? Swim? Study? Why choose one when you can now do all with the spanking new Aquatic Sports Development Program starting in 2009.

Imagine a couple of hours of formal lessons in the classroom (based at South Melbourne Surf Life Saving Club) in the morning, followed by the rest of the day on the beach with practical lessons from highly qualified instructors.

Sports Education & Development Australia has sprung up as one the finest new secondary school education providers in Victoria.

It offers students aged between 16 and 19 years a fully accredited alternative to VCE studies and the opportunity for those passionate about their sport, a unique learning experience and environment.

The Aquatic program is fully endorsed by Yachting Victoria, Life Saving Victoria, Swimming Victoria and Surfing Victoria and all students are also linked to and enrolled at Victoria University. This offers students direct pathways into Undergraduate Courses at VU.

'There's an increasing market for people wanting sailing and boating education and for industries such as ours to be able to deliver this, we need more young people looking at careers in this industry,' said Ross Kilborn, CEO of Yachting Victoria.

'This new Aquatic Sports Development Program is a great avenue for young people to begin their careers in our industry which is opening up more employment opportunities every day,' Kilborn added.

For those who complete the 3-year course, it opens the doors into areas such as sports management, sports administration, event management, facility management and coaching or to further studies at a University level.

The course is open to students already at Secondary Colleges or to recent VCE graduates - it offers a hands-on practical pathway approach for students looking to pursue a career in the sport and recreation industry.

What the course delivers:
Certificate II & III in Sport & Recreation; VCE/Intermediate VCAL;
Certificate IV in Sport & Recreation; VCE Completion/Senior VCAL;
Diploma in Sport & Recreation.

Acceptance to the course is not dependant on your sporting ability.
