Velux 5 Oceans update. British skipper Chris Stanmore-Major described his American rival Brad Van Liew's win in the first leg of the Velux 5 Oceans as a 'masterclass' in solo sailing. Brad crossed the Cape Town finish line of the first leg of the solo round the world race on Sunday more than 600 nautical miles ahead of his nearest competitor Zbigniew Gutkowski.
