All next winners of the 120th Travemuende Week are either from Germany or Russia. On the last day of racing for three Olympic classes, the locals won two of them with one victory went to Russians.

On Tuesday, 21 July the German Finn sailor Jan Kurfeld and Frithjof Schwert on his Laser were defending the first place as well as the Russian brothers Mikhail and Maxim Sheremetiev in the 470 class. Jens Findel and Johannes Tellen (GER/Kiel) became the new International German Champion of the 505 class.

'We will come back for sure', resumed Jan Kurfeld for the Finn Dinghy class after four days of finest racing on the Baltic Sea off Travemuende. He was happy about his excellent result of six from eight possible bullets. His brother Ulli Kurfeld fought for 3rd place just behind Karel von Hellermond (NED).

Frithjof Schwerdt was enjoying the final racing day as well. Although his starts weren't promising at all, he managed to win both races. 'First I passed everyone on the left side of the course, in the second race I was a little lucky, reported the 21 years old German. Because of a BFD in the last race, the Russian Sergey Komissarov had to take 3rd place tied on points with his compatriot Maxim Semerkanov who took the silver medal.

In the mixed 470 class the Danish team Henriette Koch and Lene Sommer were taking too much risk and were disqualified under black flag in the deciding race. They became second overall behind the 'gold brothers' Mikhail and Maxim Sheremetiev (RUS).

Jens Findel and Johannes Tellen were celebrating their first German Championship title in a borrowed 505. Their own boat is currently on its way to San Francisco, USA where in late summer the World Championships will take place. 'We are so excited about this title. We first thought we might miss again to making good for the Europeans in Kiel, where we struggled a bit. But finally we are very happy about two first places on the last day.'

The Pre-Worlds of the Contender class will be decided on Wednesday, 22 July with two more races scheduled. The Italian Andrea Bonezzi climbed to top of the list when Australian Champion Jono Neate had a DNF and local hero Jan von der Bank scored a BFD.

The multiple World and European Champion Roland Gaebler celebrated an impressive result in the former Olympic Tornado class. With his wife and crew Nahid he scored nine bullets and one second place by two DNC discarded.

The female skipper of the German yacht 'DHH Cross Match' Sabine Juettner-Storp had been commemorated with a minute's silence before the start of the prize-giving. On Monday, 20 July she went over board during the offshore regatta Baltic Sprint Cup. Apart from two Scandinavian rescue helicopters and two rescue boats, 15 other yachts from the regatta fleet took part in the search, which had been officially stopped without success at 10 a. m. on Tuesday morning.
