The Tow Truck crew heads offshore this weekend, in their last get together before heading to Sail Port Stephens, and the talk on deck during the Audi Sydney Offshore Newcastle Race is sure to involve the status of owner and skipper Anthony's Paterson's leave pass for the regatta next month.
Anthony's wife Jo is heavily pregnant with their second child, and by all accounts, the validity of Pato's leave pass is largely reliant on exactly when the brother or sister to first born Jack decides it's time to make an appearance.
Current predictions are that it might just get the stamp of approval with the possibility of an early April arrival, however with babies...who knows...?
And pending the portability of a newborn and a very busy two and a bit year old little boy, Jo is keen to partake in some of the social fun at Sail Port Stephens.
'I have strategically booked the accommodation at Shoal Bay Resort and Spa so that everyone's rooms are all close together...I mean it's important that we all share in the joy of a two kids under three, don't you think ??' said Jo with a mischievous giggle.
Pato, a well known party lad and avid fan of regatta festivities, is keen to get amongst it with his crew at Sail Port Stephens, and perhaps even combine the traditional yachties 'quiet little drink' with wetting the new baby's head.
But whilst the regatta is certainly on the list of fun things to be doing in April, these days he is a family man as well, and will be just seeing how things unfold for Jo and Jack before he commits to too much both on and off the water.
'The Tow Truck will be contesting the Yachting NSW IRC Championship whether I can sail or not...obviously it will be great to be there, and that's certainly what Jo and I are hoping to be able to do.... we'll just see how the next couple of weeks go...and whether my leave pass gets the nod' said Anthony with a sly wink.
Sail Port Stephens racing:
20-22 April - Commodores Cup (PHS) 23 April - Lay Day - Lunching Mischief - Long Lazy Lunch at Peppers Anchorage 24-26 April - Yachting NSW IRC Championship - Port Stephens Trophy ( PHS)
From little things, big things grow, and Sail Port Stephens would not be possible without the support of the foundation partner group of Nelson Bay Diggers, Shoal Bay Resort and Spa, Peppers Anchorage and All Seasons Salamander Shores -as well as the resource contributions of the supporting partner group in SLAM, d'Albora Marina, Yachting NSW and Business Port Stephens, an initiative of Port Stephens Council.
Wild Oats Wines also joins as a supporting partner this year, and their wonderful range of reds and whites, as well as a stunning rose, will be the wine in everyone's glass at the regatta.
