If ignoring the current economic downturn and producing a range of new models indicates some measure of success, then it's hats off to Telwater, parent company to the revered Quintrex marque.

I was at the Gold Coast City Marina at Coomera last week to see the company unveil nine new models for 2009.

The nine new models actually comprised what Damien Duncan, Telwater's director of sales and marketing terms 'our grass roots boats'.

'What we have done is incorporate features that have made Quintrex renowned such as the Millennium Hull and the Flared Bow into these models,' he explained.

'We believe we have ensured affordability and made it possible for all to enjoy the boating lifestyle,' he added.

Duncan said the Millennium Hull had proven so successful that it had become synonymous with the Quintrex breed.

'Leading technology and world class engineering has led Quintrex to the forefront of the aluminium boat manufacturing industry and the Millennium Hull has helped us along that path,' he explained.

'The Millennium Hull has been made possible via the unique ability developed here at Quintrex to stretch-form aluminium sheets into compound shapes, creating hulls that previously could only be attained using fibreglass.

'It is engineered to provide maximum lift with a deep vee design to slice through swell and rise easily to the plane.

'The design commences with the renowned Flared Bow and moves into a concave bottom shape through to the transom, offering the softest, quietest and driest riding aluminium boats ever produced.

:They perform in a like manner to fibreglass boast, but without the weight, meaning less horsepower to achieve performance and easier towing, launching and recovery,' he added.

It is the ability to stretch-form sheets of aluminium perfected by Quintrex that also allows for the creation and production of the Flared Bow design.

'The Flared Bow keeps everyone and everything on board dry and when teamed with the Millennium Hull owners can be assured of a smooth and comfortable ride every time', Duncan declared.

The Flared Bow design is now offered as standard with the 430 Top Ender and the 430, 450 and 470 Escape runabouts.

Other models either new or seriously updated for 2009 include the 520 Classic Centre Console, a boat 'adored' by keen anglers, and the big and beefy 610 Top Ender Tournament.

The 510 Freedom Cruiser is another certain to attract interest come the next boating season.

Dealers Australia-wide have not yet received examples of all the new models, but deliveries are proceeding and most will have stock ready for display at the rapidly approaching major boat shows.

As usual, Quintrex offers a comprehensive array of optional extras for every model, ranging from custom upholstery to marine electronics, entertainment systems to ski tubes and rocket launchers.
