The 22nd annual Cock o'the River Trophy will be held on Sunday 22nd November at The Southport School Sailing Club. Since 1987 the Cock o'the River Trophy has been the most prestigious one-off invitation trophy event in the Club Sailing Season.

The Regatta incorporates:

a) The inaugural Queensland International Optimist Dinghy Association River Titles
b) Divisions for the (Junior) T. C. Atkinson and (Senior) Cock o'the River Trophy
c) Junior and Senior Divisions for the TSSSC Centenary Trophy
d) The 'Plastic Fantastic Intergalactic Championships' for Trainee & Novice Racers
e) Subdivision Prizes for Pacer, Laser Radial & 4.7, Sabot and other One-Design classes

The regatta will be contested over three sprint races on windward/leeward courses in the morning, followed by 'The Three Bridges' passage race in the afternoon. TSS Sailing Club is delighted to announce the dedication of a new trophy to the Queensland International Optimist Dinghy Association, to be contested as part of the Cock o'the River Regatta and to be known as 'The QIODA River Titles Perpetual Trophy'. In addition to a couple of privately owned boats amongst the members, the TSS Sail Training Centre has just taken delivery of six brand new International Optimists and greatly looks forward to giving them their first real competitive run at this event.

Entry to the regatta includes a complimentary BBQ lunch for all competitors, and sensibly priced food and drink will be available all day courtesy of the TSSSC 'Friends of Sailing' support group. TSS Sailing Club on the banks of the Nerang River is one of the most spectator-friendly sailing venues available, and all parents, families and friends are invited to set up their own 'base-camp' with a clear view of the entire racecourse.

The Regatta is open to all classes of off-the-beach monohull dinghies and all sailors who have not reached 21 years of age as at 31 December 2008. For the Notice of Race and further information go to www.tss.yachting.org.au

TSS Sailing Club is exclusively a junior and youth sailing club and is a totally alcohol-free and non-smoking venue.
