Despite what many perceive as a 'dodgy' market, Gold Coast manufacturer Telwater, parent company of the Quintrex, which has won plaudits from numerous small boat anglers with its specialist fishboat range, has just released a model the company terms 'the ideal all-round fishing boat', the 400 Hornet Trophy.
The 400 Hornet Trophy has been specifically designed as a dedicated estuary, dam and lake angler, with an interior layout to please anglers.
Clever under floor storage abounds, leaving decks clear for fishing without tripping over gear.
The company's chief 'test pilot', Cliff Antees, rates the hull highly.
"With its unique Quintrex stretch-formed Eclipse V flare hull, it provides a stable and dry ride, and in fact could well rate as the most stable boat for its size on the market, " Antees declared.
"Its hull efficiency permits the boat to ride on top of the water, slicing through chop and diffusing spray, giving it first rate stability," he added.
The overall set up of the boat will appeal to amateur and hard core fishing enthusiasts, with front and rear casting platforms, live bait tank and 'sounder all included.
At just 215kg the 400 Hornet Trophy can be handled easily by one person and presents no towing problems for the average car.
Its overall length, including trailer, of 5.02-metres will see it accommodated in most garages.
Various options are available to 'spruce up' the rig.
At just $12,422 for an 'instant boating package', including trailer and 30hp outboard (40hp maximum), the 400 Hornet Trophy is true value for the dollar.

Telwater's 'Stacer arm', not to be outdone, has released another all-rounder in the 469 Easy Rider SVS, a rig offering the true 'sporty' look without breaking the bank.
Suitable for the first-time boat buyer or the experienced boater, the 469 Easy Rider is, as the name implies, easy to drive, easy to launch and retrieve and easy to tow, being well within the range of any small family sedan.
Craig Madam, the company's R and D manager, described the rig as "a good package to get the family into boating."
There's no doubt that this package qualifies as an all-rounder; it's fitted with a ski pole mount insert and the Mod Pod transom acts as a boarding platform, while it can easily be transformed into a fishing boat to please a discerning angler.
Option up with a casting platform infill, bait cutting board and a live bait tank and it's a case of look out fish!
The company has treated the boat with what it calls "a fresh, modern look", with new upholstery and rolled side decks.
It seats five people comfortably.
Priced from $24,196, including trailer and 60hp outboard, the 469 Easy Rider is a great fun boat ideal for the family of first timers or the more experienced crew.
