Reigning SuperSport champion Angelo Tedeschi and his Racing Project team are looking at the possibility of stepping up to the Evolution class in either 2009 or 2010.

Such a move would likely be with the Maltese-based Chaudron firm which builds the Mercury-powered #44 Conam Yachts hull that is currently dominating the SuperSport class in the hands of Tedeschi and pilot Aaron Ciantar.

Tedeschi has strengthened his links with the Chaudron firm this year, particularly with the addition of respected young gun pilot Aaron Ciantar - son of Chaudron owner Charlie Ciantar - to the #44 Conam Yachts crew. The pair remain unbeaten on the water after eight races, having only lost one win through a jump-start time penalty. As such, they're keen to move up to challenge the US and Italian manufacturer teams in the Evolution class.

'We definitely have some ideas,' Tedeschi said. 'I'm seriously talking about it with Aaron and Charlie, and the project is already in Charlie's mind. The Chaudron factory wants it, and both Aaron and myself want it. We're working together really well this year, and we're ready to step up to the next level.

'We're just deciding whether to look at it for 2009 or 2010. At the moment, it's about 30 per cent chance for 2009, but 70 per cent chance for 2010. It depends a lot on the economic situation, which is obviously tough right now for sponsors. And moving up a class is a big step in terms of finances, especially as the new teams that have joined Evolution class this year have really raised the level of competition.'
