'Prognosis 11am - 2009 Sunferries Magnetic Island Race Week Day 3' Bureau of Meteorology

Day 3 at Sunferries Magnetic Island Race Week, another warm sunny day, expected maximum temperature 30 degrees centigrade.

Winds are expected to be from the north north west to north, at around 10 knots. There is a northerly gradient wind, 15 knots at 2000 feet, (which could bend right with some sea breeze reinforcement.

Regatta Director Denis Thompson has decided to send the 49 boat fleet around Magnetic Island, to starboard, on a 20.8 nautical mile course, which should take the leaders around 3-3.5 hours.

The top of the tide is around 10am, so this course ensures the shallows at East Reef will have plenty of water, around six metres over them.
