On the eve of the Queensland State Election, LNP Leader, Lawrence Springborg will attend the opening day of the Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show (Fri 20 March) to advise voters of his party's policy on the rezoning of the Moreton Bay Marine Park.

Last month Mr Springborg announced an LNP Government would establish a full, independent and scientific environmental study into the Moreton Bay Marine Park to balance the environment of Moreton Bay with the rights of recreational fisherman. The party has also promised an extra $15 million dollars to be invested into boating infrastructure over the next three years.

The Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show will be one of Mr Springborg's last media appearances prior to Queenslanders hitting the polls the following day.

'Queenslanders love getting out on the water, with Queensland now having more than 220,000 registered recreational vessels - the largest number of any state in Australia,' he said.

The leader of the LNP is a supporter of rethinking the Moreton Bay rezoning. - ..

'With boating growing by about 5 per cent a year, there is demand for new and improved boat ramps, pontoons and better navigation channels.

'The LNP will balance the environment of Moreton Bay with the rights of recreational fisherman.'

The Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show is co-located with the National 4x4 Show and Outdoors Expo. Both events will open at 9am on Friday March 20, 2009 and will conclude two days later.
