Skandia Geelong Week - Wilparina On A Winning Streak

Veteran multihull campaigner Robert Remilton praised the racing format at Skandia Geelong Week this year. With five races complete in The Geelong Taxi Network Multi Hull series and two to go, some long passage races conducted in the series to date have been working well.

Remilton's well-campaigned Wilparina II, a Farrier F9r, has taken line honours in the first five races but only a point separates Remilton from Tim Pepperell's Quickskips on handicap.

Speaking after the historic passage race from Williamstown to Geelong, Remilton said that the 14-boat multi hull fleet enjoyed a great sail across the bay but when they headed down the channel straight into the wind they were soon overtaken by the monohulls. 'It was definitely hard work today!'

It's tight at the top of the multi-hull series table. With some boats better in light winds and others faster in a strong breeze, weather and sea state conditions should dictate the eventual winner of the series tomorrow.

Remilton has assessed his competition with a practiced eye 'Tim (Pepperell) is our handicap competition along with David Tapper's Shuttle and another challenger in the future is Dean Snow's brand new boat Volantis which looks like it could be dangerous once he really gets used to it'
