.
| At Seatec, industry heavy-weights will spend three days at conferences, meetings, in discussions and technical briefings on the current issues facing the local and global industry.
The Italian shipbuilding industry is an advanced industry with a turnover of 3.805.190.000 Euro, and Tuscany, the capital of the mega yachts, comes third in terms of companies and workers. Pleasure ports and boat moorings continuously rising.
Although times are certainly not the best, the Italian marine industry continues to hold its world record for the construction of mega yachts with 427 projects out of a total of 916, a market share of 47% according to the Order Book 2008 published the American trade magazine Show Boats International. Italy's market share has been constantly rising since 2000 (when it held 31% of new constructions) and Tuscany is the leader in Italy with the large shipyards along the Tyrrhenian coast.
Luxurious, elegant, refined, hyper technological boats thanks to a unique style and knowhow that distinguish the area and all the Tuscan shipbuilding industry.
Seatec, the International Exhibition of technology, subcontracting and design for boats, yachts and ships took place at CarraraFiere, 5 to 7 February 2009 in Marina di Carrara.
'An exhibition that is still growing - said Giorgio Bianchini and Paris Mazzanti, the Chairman and General Manager of CarraraFiere, announcing the figures for the event that is about to begin - with rising figures that confirm the constant growth trend with a record of 960 exhibitors (+11% compared to 2008, from 31 countries).
'We are very proud of the international acclaim enjoyed by Seatec, also because it is the only Italian marine show for the trade and the figures we have achieved are even more satisfying in the light of the difficult climate. Seatec strives to show a more and more complete range of products and technological innovation yet it also provides a unique opportunity for professionals to meet thanks to numerous conferences, workshops, competitions and the increasingly close ties with Universities.'
Seatec represents the marine industry which recorded a turnover of 3.805.190.000 euro in 2007 (a 10,3% increase on 2006) including 87% national products and 13% imported products. The turnover is equally divided between Italy and abroad and is a leading industry thanks to the very high quality of the Italian products (source: Ucina).
The accessories sector plays a fundamental role in the shipbuilding industry both in terms of quality and the advanced technology used and counts an overall turnover of 1.470.130.000 Euro with 76% from national production and 24% from imports. The engines sector is a very important sector with a turnover of over 529 million Euros with products of extremely high quality. The importance of the marine industry is emphasised by a figure that is anything but ambiguous: it contributes to the GNP with 5.248.800.000 euro.
Talking of the marine industry necessarily involves the need for boat moorings, and in Italy there are estimated to be 141.556 including ports, landing places and mooring places. Tuscany has 20.155 boat moorings including 10.517 in pleasure ports, 6737 landings and 2901 moorings. With 10,6% of companies and 10% of workers it is one of the leading regions in Italy both in terms of the overall number of companies and turnover: right behind the Lombardy region (25,3% companies 24% workers) and Liguria (15,2% and 9,7%), followed by Emilia Romagna with its 8,7% of companies and 15,8% of workers.
Tuscany plays a leading role in the accessories sector too with 11,2% of companies and 10% of workers, which is therefore the ideal backdrop for the most important exhibition of technology, subcontractors and design.
