| The 2009 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will feature extended pavilion displays and an expanded international marketing program in the lead-up to the 21st annual event in May.
The prestigious Australasian show is staged on Australia's Gold Coast from Thursday, May 21 to Sunday, May 24.
In new developments for the 2009 Show, the combined pavilion display area has been increased 22% to more than 8800sqm.
Sanctuary Cove General Manager Marketing and Events Mark Jensen said the Super Yacht pavilion has more than doubled in size and will feature glass walls on two sides, presenting a spectacular view to the on-water marina displays.
"We listened to 2008 exhibitor and visitor feedback to make further refinements to the displays here at Sanctuary Cove," said Mr Jensen.
"This year there will be two expanded prominent pavilions at the entrance to the Marine Village to offer a more streamlined display pathway to visitors. It also ensures the trailerable boat hardstand displays are consolidated into a larger area," he said.
The Super Yacht pavilion will feature products and services for the super yacht industry plus a range of marine exhibitors. This year's innovation includes an engine-related display featuring robust flooring for heavy exhibits.
This pavilion will offer a paved connection to the spectacular on-water marina displays which have stretched more than 5km in recent years (for vessels placed stem to stern).
Within a month of exhibitor bookings opening, the Show has received 160 applications to display by intending exhibitors - which is ahead of the preparation for the 2008 Show which brought 127 world and Australian marine product launches; 455 exhibitors; more than 50,600 visitors and close to 900 boats and watercraft.
"This is a very positive sign about the value of this event to the Australian and international marine industry," said Mr Jensen.
International marketing for 2009 has been boosted in partnership with Trade Queensland and the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) with participation at METS Amsterdam in November, Mumbai International Boat Show in February, Dubai International Boat Show in March, marine shows at Moscow and Shanghai in April with the likelihood of attendance at the Tokyo International Boat Show in March.
Newly configured management roles will support the direction. Barry Jenkins embarks on an ambassadorial role as Manager Events and International Relations. Mark Jensen has a strategic role while Phil Shaw joins the team as Events Director. Long-time Boat Show Manager Harry Davis continues to liaise with exhibitors.
Sponsors include Club Marine. Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is a member of AIMEX, Marine Queensland and Superyacht Base Australia and International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO).
The 2009 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is staged 9am to 5pm daily, Thursday, May 21 - Sunday, May 24 at Sanctuary Cove, Queensland. The Show is staged by Mulpha Sanctuary Cove. For details view: www.sanctuarycoveboatshow.com.au
