Sailors Radio Show- Sunday am 0830
For the past six years, Australia's only sailing show to grace the airwaves has been broadcast around Australia from the Sydney station 107.3FM.
If you haven't tuned in to the show, let us remind you it is definitely an 'acquired taste'.
Over the coming weeks, the show will have a new format that will build on the shaky foundations thus far established. 'No reputations will be left untarnished' promised the show anchor, Andrew Powell.
Described by many as (please purse your lips now) 'That cult radio show' and often accused of bringing the sport into disrepute; the crew of Andrew Powell, Neville Wittey and John Sturrock are far more 'Yacht Club Bar' than the BBC world service.
In spite of the shows cavalier disregard for the truth, the finest sailing experts in the world continue to front up as guests. Dangerously, the new format will include talk-back, so you will all have the chance to join in the fun.
The new network is the national RPH network and in addition to Sydney, the show will shortly be available in Newcastle, Canberra, Melbourne & Brisbane.
Originally a station for the blind, the crew has promised to keep the faith of the networks original charter and anyone coming on the show who is not blind will be fed enough rum to become so.
The new show is broadcast on SUNDAYS, between 8:30 and 10am and you will need to tune your radio to 1224 on the AM band.
The show has proven extremely popular both in Sydney and with the many regional stations that have syndicated the shows.
Sailors Radio are the official broadcasters of the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race start (3 hours live on the day) in conjunction with the Cruising Yacht Club Australia. This will continue with a globally syndicated race call scheduled for this year.
The show will continue to be archived at www.sailorsradio.comand will be available as a podcast for the new generation of anyone under 66.
