RYA/Yachting Australia Instructors Conference


'RYA Training' RYA
The first annual RYA/Yachting Australia Instructors Conference will take place at The Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron on 29th/30th October 2008. The Conference is open to all Training Centre Principals, Instructors and Examiners of the RYA/Yachting Australia Joint Yacht Training Scheme.

The programme will include guest speakers from the Bureau of Meteorology. Alasdair Hainsworth will speak on Weather Forecasting and IT innovations while Rick Bailey will inform us about Tsunami Warning Systems.

The RYA's Chief Instructor James Stevens will provide an update from the UK and will also talk on various topics including 'The Loss of the Yacht Ouzo'. There will be an update from Chris Kameen - Training & Participation Manager for Yachting Australia.

Penny Haire will hold an Examiners Update during the Conference. There will also be opportunity to raise and discuss other topics you may wish to cover. (Should you wish to submit a topic for discussion, please do so when registering for the Conference.)

The Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron will be commencing their Twilight Season Racing on the evening of 29th Oct and they have generously extended the invitation to anyone who wishes to join in. For those wishing to stay on dry land, there will be plenty of time for socialising at the bar before we sit down for dinner later at the Squadron.
