Sea Dubai take sixth place in the fleet ranking after completing four races in the RC44 Austria Cup.
The wind filled in eventually after a frustratingly flat and windless morning. 'You see those puffy, really low clouds sitting by the mountain over there,' said Peter Regio, Principal race officer at twelve o'clock, 'they haven't moved for the last three hours, it's not looking good right now,' he added. But a good wind did settle by two and all the planned races were completed.
'As first days in a new job go, it wasn't too bad,' said Harm Muller Spreer. 'Before we left the dock the boss said he expected results of between fifth and seventh place and we got a sixth, fourth, tenth and sixth. There is room for improvement and that will come.'
The tenth place came from being caught over the start line early and the restart cost them dearly. But the other scores were good in the difficult conditions where the wind and boats hugged the coast for most of the time.
'The second race was great; we were in seventh place at the first windward mark, and then fifth and finally finished in fourth place. We weren't consistent but overall it was not a bad start,' said Markus Wieser.
Racing will resume on Monday at 11:30 with four races planned. The final races will be on Tuesday.
