While Australian Match Racers are winning the World Match Racing Tour Events overseas, a new breed of Queensland's best were showing their skills in the Queensland Open, Youth and Women's Match Racing Championships. Despite all efforts to complete the round robin and proceed to finals the Gold Coast could not produce enough breeze to complete the scheduled racing. Angus Galloway and his team were crowned the Queensland Youth and Open Champions with Southport Yacht Club's Jack Sherring and crew finished second with Curtis Skinner's team finishing in third.
