The OAMPS Insurance Brokers Queensland Youth Week regatta is just a few weeks away and the entries are pouring in from all the states of Australia and from New Zealand.

So far 57 entries have been received with more coming in on a daily basis.

This year the host club Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is offering new Optimist sailors the chance to be involved in the Optimist Green Fleet Training Camp.

The camp will run alongside the regatta with sailors having four full days of coaching including health and fitness sessions and understanding forecasts.

The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is actively supporting the Optimist Glass and the Green Fleet concept with morning classes running throughout the summer season and on scheduled winter racing days.

'There was a call from parents to offer such a camp so that younger brothers and sisters of sailors could be involved whilst their elder siblings were racing,' said RQYS Marine Sports Manager Suellen Hurling.

'We put our heads together with various Optimist Associations and the decision was made to offer the camp.'

The Green Fleet Training Camp is open to all new Optimist sailors, and not just those who are related to an existing competitor.

The cost of the four day camp is $100 per sailor.
