The whole of Tasmania is surrounded by strong westerly winds, with some shelter from the lee of the Tasmanian coast.

Typically these wind feeds are only the average wind strength and may increase up to 10% in gusts and of course the nature of the coast off Tasmanian and give rise to local squalls.
