Sunday saw the first race in the Port Dalrymple Yacht Club's Allans Log Cabin Distance Race series.

The course raced yachts across the bay at Beauty Point, down wind to the Bell Bay power station, though a mark in Bryant's Bay at Clarence Point, then with the tide to a rounding at Honduras Bank. The final legs of the course drew yachts back against strong tide, through Bryant's Bay and back to finish at Port Dalrymple Yacht Club.

Richard Fisher in his new Beneteau 45 Believe led early but was overtaken on the run. A variable but good breeze saw all competitors make excellent time with tide. Obsession, David Allan's Sydney 38, rounded the Honduras Bank mark well ahead of Believe, but was slowed into the tide.

Division 2 saw a titanic struggle emerge between Ron Shepherd's This way up and Bruce Eadie in Mojo. Ron Shepherd got the best of the tide, as he often does, in the end beating Bruce buy a mere 27 seconds across the line.

Division 1 saw Obsession's crack crew celebrating a win on their first outing for the season. Believe claimed second from Steve McElwee's Lawless.

This Saturday sees the running of the Captain Marine Sprint Series promising, short course close sailing action.
