Phillip Bay Blitz yields 1000 fines

'Port Phillip Bay sailing might be easier in the future' .
The Herald Sun has reported that water police fined more than 1000 boat and jet-ski users over summer for poor safety equipment, and speed and licensing offences.

The Water Police have been blitzing various popular holiday destinations including Port Phillip Bay, Western Port Bay, Lake Eildon, East Gippsland and Wilson's Promontory.

The Water Police issued 1286 fines in December, January and February, with 669 of those given out at Port Phillip Bay and Western Port Bay.

Of the 1286 fines, police issued 126 of those in December, 801 in January and 359 in February.

Police also nabbed two boaters for drink-driving.
