Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen led the way for the Australian Sailing Team in the 49er class on day two of the Delta Lloyd Regatta with their first ISAF Grade One race victory together.

Outteridge and Jensen clearly enjoyed the more favourable sailing conditions with their fifth and ninth places combining with victory in race five to see them finish the day in ninth overall.

'It was a much better day out there for us today,' said Outteridge. 'It's different sailing in such a big fleet of 50 boats, you make one mistake and suddenly you're back in the 20s so we just kept chipping away.'

'In the last race we finally got a bit of fresh air up the first beat and were in the top three at the first mark, from there on we kept on sailing through them and it was pretty nice to find some fresh air out there.'

Fellow 49er sailors Darren Bundock and Ben Austin also climbed the ladder with a 10th, 20th and 16th leaving them in 16th position overall while Euan McNicol and Sam Newton closely follow in 18th.

Tom Slingsby continued to be the top placed Australian in the Laser fleet finishing the day sixth with Ashley Brunning and Tom Burton having strong fourth races with an eighth and fourth respectively.

Jessica Crisp had a successful day aboard her RS:X, with a third and fourth placing, jumping up the rankings to seventh after four races.

It was a mixed day for the AST's 470 men's crew of Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page who had two strong races with a sixth and a third before being black flagged in the final race of the day to be sitting in 23rd after five races.

The Australian Sailing Development Squad crews of Sam Kivell and Will Ryan and Shane Hughes and Felix Patterson both had solid days on the water with Hughes and Patterson finishing in a hard fought sixth in the day's final race.

In the 470 women's class Stacey Omay and Chelsea Hall finally made it onto the course after Wednesday's races were cancelled and finished the day's two races in 12th place.

Australia's Women's Match Racing entry of Lucinda Whitty, Amanda Scrivenor and Nina Curtis are currently tied for third place with a record of seven wins and three losses.

Day three of the regatta kicks off for the AST at 10am as the 49ers contest races seven, eight and nine, with all classes scheduled to complete three races on Friday.
