'Regatta Prep for 2009 Australian University Regatta' Ted Sealey

In a week's time The 2009 Australian University Regatta will begin on Sydney Harbour. Seven universities will be making an appearance at this land mark event which represents the re-birth of Australian university sailing.

The final preparations are coming together on what looks to be an event to remember. There will be two races per day over the three days which will take place on Rose Bay out of Woollahra Sailing Club. Competitors will then be transported to Cockatoo Island where the social side of the event will take place. On Thursday (16th) night, there will be a harbour cruise that will depart Rose bay at 7:30pm. The cruise is included in the regatta social fees but is also open to everyone else at the cost of $35. Ticket information is available via the club website (www.usydsailing.com).

Regatta entry is $80 per person and the entry deadline is on Wednesday (8th) so if you have not already get your entry forms in soon. A late fee applies after this date. Final fees for the Social Side need to be in by Friday (10th). The full social program includes; Camping on Cockatoo Island (14th, 15th & 16th), The Harbour Cruise and Water Taxi transfers between WSC and Cockatoo Island for $105. Between the social side fee and the regatta fee, over the three days almost all meals are included so the value even by student standards, its great amazing.
