'Historical meets Classic - 18ft Skiffs on the Brisbane River in 2008 - Waterloo Bay Championship for 18ft Skiffs' Mark Graveson
The Brisbane 18 Footers will be holding an 'open' 18ft skiff championship event from Darling Point Sailing Squadron (Brisbane), from Friday September 18 to Monday September 21, 2009.

In what is believed to be a first for the class, the championship will be open to all currently sailing eras of the famous 18ft skiffs:

Historical 18ft Skiffs - as sailed from Sydney Flying Squadron (SFS) under the Australian Historical Sailing Skiff Association (AHSSA) rules, that is up to a 1952 design. These boats are the gaff-rigged troop carriers of old.

Classic 18ft Skiffs - as sailed from Brisbane 18 Footers Sailing Club, typically designs from the mid to late 1970s, but up to a 1990 design, but without wings.

Contemporary 18ft Skiffs - as currently sailed from the Australian 18 Footers League, but also including any skiffs with non-conforming hulls such as those sailed from the SFS.

Sailing will be held on Waterloo Bay with one race per day.
