North Sails provides Weather for major regattas
North Sails Australia will provide detailed weather information to all competitors for the week of Whitsunday racing, from August 14 -30, 2008, Queensland.
North Sails weather service will include an overall synopsis for the racing area, temperature and sea conditions, a detailed wind forecast with possible alternative scenarios, and outlook covering the days racing ahead.
North Sails is joining with veteran yachtsman and leading meteorologist, Kenn Batt to provide a professional yacht racing weather service at these regattas. A printed copy of the weather forecast for each yacht can be collected every morning of each regatta.
At Airlie Beach, copies will be available from the regatta office at Abel Point Marina, and at Hamilton Island, the North Sails weather will be provided throughout the Audi Race Week village.
Kenn Batt is an experienced sailor from dinghies, on to one-design and offshore yachts. He has been a meteorologist for the past 25 years and currently works with the Bureau of Meteorology in Canberra.
'North Sails Australia is proud and committed to continue in providing professional weather information at one of Australia's major yacht racing regattas' said Michael Coxon, Director of North Sails. 'In addition to designing and producing the best sails, North Sails seeks to extend its service of care for all aspects of sailing.'
With senior North Sails personnel from all lofts around the nation including Alby Pratt, Julian Plante, Richie Allanson, Ross Lloyd, Mark Bradford and Vaughan Prentice on the race track each day, Ken's role will be assisted by their observations in the evening debrief. These tropical sailing regattas are well run and are highly competitive, so North Sails look forward to assisting all competitors' performance with forecasts and possible trends to consider in their race management.
