Queenslander Adrian Finglas and South Australian Sam Heritage expressed their individual talent to win the silver medal during the final heat of the 51st Australian 505 championship off Sydney Heads on Friday.

Finglas the 2008 Olympic Yngling class coach and Heritage a Lightweight Sharpie class champion met on the eve of the championship and overcame the disadvantage of sailing together for the first time by claiming third in the opening heat of the eight race series.

They were in medal contention after five tactically demanding races with t a consistent 3-6-2-7-2.

However South Australia's Sandy Higgins and Jordan Spencer had firmed their grip on the Gold medal with a 2-1-1-4-4 eventually winning the series by 12 points ahead of Finglas and Heritage, while Sydney's Carter Jackson and Beijing 470 Gold Medallist Malcolm Page finished with the bronze, another two points off the pace.
