Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) and Surf Life Saving Australia kicked off their new partnership with an official launch at the 2009 Whereis? Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at Scarborough beach, Perth.

The annual championships ran across the week from 17 March with 6000 competitors from Australia and international lifesaving countries and spectators in excess of 30 000 during the event.

BRP is one of five major partners of SLSA partnering with Whereis?, DHL, Telstra and Westpac to help keep 'Aussie' beaches safer and cleaner throughout the country.

Sea Doo had a strong presence both in and out of the water, including an esplanade display and Personal Water Crafts (PWC's) used by the events team.

BRP and SLSA held an official launch on March 19th. More than 100 volunteer surf lifesavers from around the country were on hand to mingle with staff from BRP who explained some of the many benefits associated with Sea-Doo watercraft and the Evinrude E-Tec motor.

Michael Hornby, SLSA Group General Manager said that the organisation was pleased to be associated with BRP.

'They have shown great innovation and commitment since coming on board and launches like the one held in Perth are just another illustration of BRP's commitment to saving lives,' he said.

SLSA Lifesaving Co-coordinator and Elouera SLSC member Matt Thompson added: 'It is great to have an organisation take the time to give our members the facts and information on the equipment we use every week.'

'I have spoken to a lot of other SLSA members and we are excited about fitting our clubs out with Evinrudes and Sea-Doo's.'

BRP and SLSA are currently working on the appropriate approval processes and are looking forward to launching the new-look BRP Club Rescue Program later in the year.
