The National Marine Safety Committee (NMSC), is forging ahead with the Summit Down Under on 22 May despite the unfortunate and unexpected cancellation of the ISO Committee meetings originally scheduled to be held in conjunction with the Summit.
The one-day workshop to be held on Friday 22 May 2009 at the Gold Coast International Hotel will focus on developments in recreational boating safety both locally and internationally.
The Summit will:
- include international speakers such as the Chair of the ISO Small Craft Committee, Nik Parker. - build on previous World Standards Summits and the efforts to harmonise the different standards applying in the world market. The goal of minimising compliance costs and removing barriers to trade by having one set of standards world-wide is more important than ever in difficult financial times. - look at topical safety issues and how they are being addressed around the world. - attract the local boating industry and community being adjacent to the well-established Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.
