Training for the 22 sabots again was a picture perfect. For those that think its cold here in Tasmania it's not really!

After making their mothers breakfast in bed, the Tasmanian Sabots sailors arrived at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania for training.

Again, training for the 22 sabots was picture perfect. For those that think it's cold here in Tasmania it's not really!

At each training session sailors work on new skills. Sunday's session was a mixture of boat handling drills as well as down wind steering/balance and trim technique. With 22 boats lining up for a 'rabbit start', the saying of the day was 'you snooze you lose'.

Many of the Sabot sailors are now sailing laser 4.7s and 420s as well as their sabots. The reason behind this, is that there is a need to make the transition from the training classes sooner (rather than later) and to make the jump into another class not so big and daunting.

Support from the 'Dinghy Group' www.dinghygroup.org.au, who own five 420's as well as dinghies in other classes, allows their members to continue sailing development without the initial financial burden that normally happens when sailors need to take the next step into youth classes.
