The 2009 Moth Nationals sponsored by Zhik is shaping up to be a hotly contested series. As well as a strong contingent of Bladerider designs there will also be two 'Mach 2' designs created by Moth legend and Bladerider designer Andrew McDougall.
This will be the first time that the new Mach 2 designs have been raced and it will be interesting to see how they fare against the Bladerider design, which holds the current World and National Championship title.
A fleet of around 50 Moths is expected, the majority of them being hydrofoiled Moths that literally fly a metre above the water at speeds in excess of 20 knots.
Moth sailors from all over the globe will be competing, including sailors from the USA, Switzerland, New Zealand, the UK, and possibly even the United Arab Emirates and Estonia.
The series commences Tuesday the 20th of January and finishes Sunday the 25th.
