Blaming restrictive economic conditions, Riviera has sacked another 117 staff today, halving its Coomera-based workforce in less than a year, and also announced it would close its production line for three weeks from April 10 until May 5 in a bid to clear stock held by its 88 international dealers.

Today's sackings were across the board and included boat builders, supervisors, forklift drivers and administration staff, started early this morning and continued progressively throughout the day.

Only 650 staff remain employed with Riviera, down from the 1200 on site mid-last year.

Riviera would not comment except to release a statement saying the global financial crisis had forced the redundancies.
