BIA General Manager Robert Coco said the service was designed to help boat buyers select the right boat for them to maximise their boating pleasure.

'Boating is about enjoying life with family and friends, but you need to choose the right boat to have the most fun,' he said.

'Consumers need to decide what boat best suits their needs and sometimes you need expert advice to find the boat that suits you.

'With boats your choices include fibreglass or aluminum, inboard or outboard, two-stroke or four-stroke, and all the different types such as fishing, cruising, skiing and much more.

'You also want to be sure the boat you buy can be towed safely and legally behind the car you already own.'

Boating experts Alan Rice and Glenn Powell will help people narrow down their choices before seeking the boat of their dreams among the 600-plus boats at the Show.

Alan and Glenn will be based in the high-profile BIA Stand.

Alan also delivers the free boat handling course for anyone buying a new boat at the Boat Show, and will stage boat safety presentations on the Yamaha Superstage throughout the Show.

The 2008 BIA Melbourne Boat Show runs from 3 to 7 July at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Southbank.
