The Maxi.net NSW Tasar State Championships were sailed over the Easter weekend with a fleet of 65 boats on Botany Bay from Georges River 16ft Skiff Club.

Defending NSW State Champs and current World Champs Rob and Nicole Douglass on Coollit were narrowly beaten by current National and South Australian State Champions Shane Guanaria and Melinda Rippe on Sway. In a regatta that came down to the wire, the match racing on the last day was a great spectacle for fellow competitors and spectators alike.

Shane and Mel sailed a consistent series, and when Rob and Nic didn't hear the gun when they crossed the line in race three many thought the series was over. What followed were three races with Shane and Mel, and Nic and Rob finishing within five seconds of each other.

NSW took out the first and second placings, with a series of Victorians taking up the rest of the top five. This is a good sign for NSW with the next Nationals just around the corner.

A full range of sponsors were responsible for the Maxi.net NSW State Tasar Championships.
